The digital assistants on Android and iOS share a similar process for setting up reminders. How to set reminders on iOS Siri works with the iOS Reminders app. Unfortunately, Google hasn’t yet worked out how to sync reminders across its various apps, so these reminders will stay separate for now. Again, you can tag a time or a place to your reminder, and set up a repeating event. Open the app menu, tap Reminders, then create a new note with a reminder attached. In addition to the Google Assistant, Android gives you another alternative in the form of the Google Keep app (which is also available on iOS). Scroll down and choose Reminders to see and manage your existing reminders, or create new ones. If you want to keep it quiet, tap the G on the left of the search bar and then your avatar picture on the right. To see your current list, say “OK, Google, show me my reminders,” and the Google assistant will read the list for you. If you choose neither a time nor a place for your reminder, the note will sit in your list of reminders until you remove it. For example, try saying, “Remind me to wash the car tomorrow at 2 p.m.” Rather than creating a reminder and then adding the details, you can bake specifics into your original command. Reminders can also repeat on a daily, weekly, monthly, or annual basis. For example, you can tell your phone to remind you about your grocery list next time you step into your local store. And Google adds another nifty feature that paper can’t match: If you choose a place, you can get a reminder the next time your phone detects you’re at that location. If you choose a time, you get a reminder at that time, or you can associate the reminder with morning, afternoon, evening, or the whole day. Google spots that you want to set up a reminder and asks if you’d like to add a time or a place to the note. Tap inside the Google search box and type “set a reminder,” or say “OK Google” out loud and speak your request. If you’ve got a stock Android phone, you’ll have the Google Assistant built in. While you're here you can also set default notifications for All-day events, as well as set up email notifications if someone adds or interacts with events on that calendar.Google can remind you to do anything, at any time, at any location. This is the view in the "classic" calendar. If you sync your calendar with a device, it will display the pop-up notifications. You can have both email and pop-up notifications. Scroll to the "Event notifications" area and choose how you want your notifications. The "classic" Google calendar looks like this: To start, go to and log in to your SLUH or personal Google account.Ĭlick on the three dots next to the name of the calendar in the left column and choose "Settings and sharing". If you want default notifications on multiple calendars, simply repeat this process for the other calendars. You can also add default reminders on shared calendars, if you so choose. Note that any changes you make to your default reminders are specific to that calendar. Putting individual reminders on every appointment is annoying and time-consuming, so luckily Google offers the ability to put a default reminder on any appointment on your calendar, even appointments that come from invitations. I use Google's Calendar heavily to manage my day and rely on its notifications to remind me of my appointments.
